I was born and raised in Richboro, Pennsylvania, a suburb in the larger Bucks County area, not 20 minutes from Bucks County Playhouse. And no, I didn’t perform there as a kid, I was playing baseball and studying math.
Although I ended up playing basketball for longer, baseball guided me into boyhood. My first stage appearance was in fifth grade, playing Mr. MacAfee in Bye Bye Birdie. In high school, I reconnected with an old friend and was subsequently involved in his community theatre company. In addition to productions at school, I was acting in several community shows including The King and I, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, and even A Chorus Line.
But everything; sports, theatre, whatever else, was secondary to my performance in the classroom. It was paramount to study, get good grades, and go to college. It was only once I got to college, that I realized I had not been listening to my heart. I didn’t even know how. I met a theatre professor (at an internationally-renowned liberal arts college, studying Mathematics of all things) that taught me: time is only ever against us when we chose to waste it.
By the grace of the universe, I started studying (as a freshman once again) for my B.F.A. in Musical Theatre at Montclair State University. Taking voice, acting, and dance lessons all for the first time was a little different than buying a new pair of cleats. In addition to performing in a wide-range of productions such as Romeo and Juliet, Maltby and Shire’s Take Flight, and 42nd Street, I performed in summer stock and repertory theaters in California, Pennsylvania, and New Hampshire.
After graduating in 2015, I finished my summer gig and moved back to Bucks County. I was going to stay 6 months tops, find a job, save money, and commute into NYC for auditions (a 2 hour one-way trip). I was riding shotgun in a UPS truck when I found out I would be joining the cast of the Disney Magic Cruise Line, rehearsing in Toronto, and sailing to over 20 countries in the world. And they wanted me to be Prince Charming; tell that to 10-year-old Mr. MacAfee. I loved it so much I did it again, next time playing Flynn Rider, the devilishly handsome and charmingly foolish love interest in Tangled: the Musical (10-year-old Chris is still beaming). I spent two years learning a dozen shows, sailing to 27 countries world-wide, and finding my ‘happily ever after.’ On August 6, 2018 I asked Kristin Roa to marry me and she said, “No, no, no, no, no, wait, no, no, stop, stop, no, no…NO.” But then she came back into the room and said, “YES!” And that’s what she meant.
Since moving to New York City in January 2018, I have found the joys of decorating an apartment, felt the significance of having a key ring, held my first lead in a short film, performed gigs in New Jersey, Vermont, upstate New York, New Hampshire, and Connecticut, and got my own Health Insurance (Medicaid, of course).
Upon returning to New York in the fall of 2018, I am proud to say I have joined the Actors Equity Association and signed with Baker Management.
